Today Is the Day

On Friday I told Mason we were going to the park and he said "Today is the day for the Monkey Bars!!!!" (with his hands in the air)...He has been trying to figure out how to swing from bar to bar across the monkey bars.

And then he added "And today is the day for the Pole!!!" (fireman pole at the park)

Now, he hasn't really attempted these things much and we really didn't think he thought about it much. So, we went to the park and he tried the monkey bars and said "The day for Monkey Bars is when I am 5" The pole is for when I am 4". So, we went to the POLE. I helped him 3 times on it and he actually slid down, then he was done. A little boy came to the park who was 5 and Mason decided he could try the pole by himself while I talked with the boy's grandma and he did it!!!! He was sooo excited!!!! He just kept on sliding down that pole!! the 5 year old wouldn't even try the pole, so Mason was trying to teach him how. A 4 year old teaching a 5 year old how to slide down the pole...that is BIG stuff!!!! As soon as it stops raining we are heading out to the park!! Friday , September 28th was the day!!!!

Last night after church he told us two boys were fighting in Sunday School and it hurt his ears. He said it made him think of times when he was mad and he listed off a few things. Then he said "When I am mad I go into my room and kick once or cry or scream and then I feel better and can come down and play. OR, I pray and then I say "UFFDA, I feel like playing now!!".....Apparently I am saying "UFFDA "a lot because that is pretty much all he says all day. "UFFDA, I'm tired. UFFDA, I'm hot. UFFDA this is heavy, etc..." Funny guy!!

We had a great visit with Cathy and Mason LOVED having her here!! Cathy, we are measuring everything!!! And have read the book several times!! He also loves the case the playing cards were in. I can't count the number of things he has turned the case into!!

Well, the baby dropped on Thursday night. I hope he stays in here until November!! I woke up in the middle of the night on Thursday because my ligaments were killing me. I think that is when he dropped. Everyone else has noticed it too. Feels like a bowling ball between my legs!

I am still having cravings. the worst one that i will NOT give into is laundry soap flakes. I want to chew on them sooo bad!! And cleaning supplies smell soooo good. Instead I eat those Flav-o-Ice popsicles (you buy them unfrozen in the little tubes). I have about 5 a day and can't get enough of them. I LOVE the crunch!!! Also craving baked potatoes with sour cream, butter and cheese!!! And APPLES!!!!! And OLIVES!!! Any kind of OLIVES!! and BEER!! I want a beer sooo badly!! i won't have one, but I really really want one!!!

When I was out with some friends Thurs night, someone spilled a 24 oz beer and some spilled on me and it smelled sooo good!! It is CRAZY!!!! And I don't drink beer. Too wierd.

Well, time for bed. The leg has been acting up again today. i had a couple of nights when it was fine...I actually slept until 5:30 this am and got up for bathroom and fell back to sleep until 9:00!!! I am going to try compression socks next.

Ok, I think that is enough updating. Mason is doing great and is a blast to be with, the baby is doing fine, I only have 57 days to go and we need to get many things done: paint the bedroom, take down the dog kennel, get rid of the dog house, get rid of the Lumina, finish Christmas shopping, make Mason's halloween costume, and have his birthday party!!! All by Nov. 3rd, so that is less than the 57 days. ugh, now i am really tired!

Happy Autumn!!

Autumn came last week. Luckily we took a ride out into the country to look at the leaves. Very pretty but we have the best view just looking out our front window. I suppose the wind will come and blow them down all at once so we enjoy them while we can. Last week I took a quick trip to Washburn. Had to get an official birth certificate so I could apply for a passport. Now that is done so we will be able to visit Thunder Bay next year. It's good to hear about all that's going on in Thunder Bay and Duluth. Too bad we don't even get "comments" from the rest of the Haugens but then again, they don't know what's happening with us.

The weekend before the Harleys were in town. The parade of Harleys went right by the house. And here they come!!!

I can't get the pictures the way I want so you'll just have to pretend they are spaced out correctly.

Mr Sandman ...Bring me some SLEEP

Hey there. I need to sleep!!! This Restless Leg Syndrome is KILLING me!!!! I can't even take a decent nap because of it!! I went to bed earlier tonight, but here I am again AWAKE because of my leg. They say there is nothing they can do for me because I am pregnant. After this post, I am looking online for natural remedies.

Can I name this little guy "trouble"?? No...it isn't him, it's just this old body. My brain is seriously being affected by this lack of sleep though. Yesterday I went into the bathroom to get some Fritos, and forgot why I got up and was really confused because I knew I didn't need to go to the bathroom, but couldn't remember why I was in there.

Mason is doing well. I think he did an algebral problem the other night when he tried to figure out how many dinner rolls we started out with by counting the number we ate and looking at how many were left. He still cracks me up, but i can't remember anything at the moment. Because I want to SLEEP!!!!

I wish we had cable at the moment. I am stuck watching Sport Zone...maybe that will lull my leg to sleep?

We have 3 names picked out (i think) and we are going to wait until we see this little guy before we pick out the name. want to see which one fits him best.

It's Fall

Here is the proof:

I actually remembered to take the camera along on our walk today. Gingie's eeeestrogen (seriously, that's how they say it here) seems to have perked her up a little bit. She didn't even want to turn back, but when I told her that we could go to the water, she complied. Darnit, she's s-m-r-t! Look how happy she was:

She always beats me to the water. For more pictures of the river, see my blog.

Weather Pixies

So, how do you like the weather women that I have on the left side? I put them up last night, and it's kind of fun to see how they change from night to day....sometimes a pet is there, sometimes, not. The one for Thunder Bay is kind of hard to see.....because it's foggy here!

Kind of dumb. Kind of fun. If other people would start to participate, I would put their weather up, too, but............

GREAT NEWS

We had the appt today and the baby is HEALTHY!!! Everything is working just like it is supposed to. And my fluid level is in the "normal high" range. a couple of numbers from the cutoff for being too much, but nothing to worry about.

It has been a long 11 days waiting for this appt. Many people were praying though and I felt pretty calm yesterday and today...no upset stomachs...only God can do that!! Especially with my stomach!!

We did find out what it is. After all these ultrasounds and cruddy appts, I wanted something to look forward to. Mason is going to have a baby brother!!!! His response to this news was "Cool. Just like I said it was. Wanna see my science book?" He has been saying it is a boy and that he wants a brother, so that will be fun for him.

well, going to bed now. We need to get busy on a boy's name so we can name this little guy!

hi there

Aunt Janis,
I am with you on the mice!!!! So far we haven't had any return and I am hoping it stays that way!!

I've had a lot of Dr appts lately. More 4D ultrasounds as well, when I get it on the CD, I'll post a picture. You can really see the resemblence to Mason in the pictures.

On Tuesday I am going to see a perinatalogist for a level 2 ultrasound. My amniotic fluid levels are too high, so they want to check the baby out. i guess heart defects or defects of the gastrointestinal system can cause the high levels. We had hoped I had gestational diabetes, because that can cause the high levels as well, but I passed the 3 hour test. I also think a person can have high fluid levels without really having a reason---which is what I am hoping for. Seems like everytime I go to the Dr I have to deal with some freaky thing. Can't wait for the end of Nov!!! only 74 more days to go!!!!!
Please keep the baby and us in your prayers.

Things are getting ready around here and Mason is VERY excited!!!! He is doing well with homeschool and LOVES it!! I hope it stays that way!! :) He just started adding and subtracting things on his own..

Cathy---do you know of any good resources for preschool math? There is so much out there and I don't want a real "formal" program at this point, just activities to encourage him along since he doing this already.

Do you also know of any fun CD's with kid songs that are not annoying? We have a few, but I am always looking for more.

I'll get to emailing those pictures soon, just want to get through the next few Dr appts first.

Fall has arrived!!!

I think the fall season has arrived. Brrrrrrrrrrrr. Yesterday was really cold and windy but today is just cold. Another sign of fall is the fact that the little mice have decided to come in out of the cold. Trapped 4 little ones so far. I hate mice!!!
Today I am playing Bunco. It's a fun, no brainer dice game that the ladies around here play. And tomorrow I play again. I can hardly wait.

Here's a picture of our wonderful trip to visit Cathy at the lake. We had a great time. Especially, Mr. Jim because he caught a big fish!!

Okay, so

here I am, again. We had a little bear cub eating our plums, cherries, apples, and crabapples the other night. It was so small....much smaller than Ginger. Very cute. It has been a really windy day, and many of the apples blew off of the tree. I decided to see if any of them were salvageable and managed to come up with these:

Maybe I've got enough for an apple pie or apple crisp.

Randy is MIA right now. He came home for dinner and had to walk part of the way because a huge, 60-foot pine tree had fallen across our driveway. He is lumberjacking it so that we can get up and down the driveway.

All of the hazards of living in the boonies.

Here's the fish!

The statistics:
24.5 inches
5 pounds
What kind is it, again? Oh well, they're all the same......it's a fish.

And mom, dad's wearing that d@rn hat. Recorded for all of the world to see.

Dentist Blues

Mason went to the Dentist today. And what a visit it was!!!

He's been there before and it went pretty well, but not today.

He has such a large personal space and he abhors anyone messing around with his mouth, not to mention taste and texture sensitivities...so, I realize how hard it must have been for him.

He was SCREAMING and crying and getting out of the chair, closing his mouth and covering his mouth with his hands. All they did was polish and count his teeth, and x-ray them. Now i hat the x-ray part too, so I completely understand that part.

The dentist and hygenist were very patient and kind and kept telling me "Oh we see this all the time"...I have said those same words to other parents, and now I was that parent!!

Mason was spitting the paste out, yelling "I don't like you!!" "I don't like the dentist" "I'm not coming back here again" "I'm never going to the dentist" "I don't like this" "I want to go home now" "I AM going home now". I had to hold his hands down and keep him in the chair. He kept jumping out of the chair and refusing to put his head in the head rest.

It was so hard. I felt for the boy and yet, he needs his teeth cleaned, because fixing cavities is far worse. He did great for the flossing part though and was excited to get his treasure, so hopefully he wasn't too traumatized.

On a side note, I peed my pants tonight and didn't even know it. I went out to eat for an hour or so, came home and was changing into my PJ's when I noticed I had wet myself. And it definitely wasn't amniotic fluid. SO, another great side effect of pregnancy...wetting myself without knowing it. Doesn't seem possible, but it is. Only 80 more days to go. WHOO-HOO!!!
